Fear Screen Unleashes Its Official Launch Party This October

A new force in British horror cinema is preparing to awaken. Fear Screen proudly announces its official launch party, taking place on 29th October 2025, in what promises to be an unmissable celebration for lovers of dark, daring, and independent film.

Although the full-scale festival is set to debut in 2026, this inaugural event marks the beginning of Fear Screen’s rise — a bold prelude to a new era of fear, artistry, and cinematic innovation in the North East.

The launch night will feature the exclusive premieres of two chilling new films:

Drained (2024) – Directed by Sean Cronin & Peter Stylianou An unemployed artist becomes infatuated with the mysterious Rhea — only to learn her beauty conceals a monstrous truth. As desire blurs into obsession, their affair descends into darkness, and his life begins to slip away.

The Cellar (2025) – Directed by Jamie Langland A young woman awakens in an underground prison with no memory of who she is or how she got there. Desperation fuels her escape, but each revelation brings her closer to confronting the inner demons that may be her greatest captor.

In addition, audiences will be treated to a special showcase of short films produced during the 48 Hours Later Challenge, a testament to the fearless creativity and rapid ingenuity of filmmakers from across the UK and beyond. Registration to take part is still open at https://fearscreen.com/48hourslater.

Fear Screen is equally proud to announce a partnership with Roxy Movies, located at 9–10 Captain Cook Square, Middlesbrough, TS1 5UB — the official venue for this year’s launch. This collaboration ensures an elevated, cinematic experience worthy of the horror genre’s finest traditions. Together, Fear Screen and Roxy Movies aim to cultivate a lasting partnership leading into the festival’s full debut in 2026.

Tickets for the launch party are strictly limited and expected to sell quickly. Industry professionals, film enthusiasts, and horror devotees are urged to secure their place early for a night of premieres, networking, and the thrilling rebirth of horror in the North East.
